Teaching
Three basic tenets guide my teaching:
- I implement pedagogical best practices because I care about teaching well;
- I foster a supportive learning environment because I want every student to have confidence in their ability to succeed;
- and I promote students’ holistic development because I want my courses to benefit students beyond the final exam.
While I have experience teaching effectively, I follow education research and attend conferences and workshops to continue improving my teaching practice.

- Adapted departmental material for this undergraduate economics and business majors’ pre-requisite course to provide student-centered lectures and recitations in which students applied concepts during lecture and practiced problem-solving skills in collaborative learning activities during recitations
- Integrated classroom technologies to provide a hybrid learning environment in 2021
- ECON 480: Labor Economics (Summer 2020 Course Evaluations)
- Designed a course in which upper-level undergraduate economics majors applied theory in problem sets and exams, analyzed journal articles, and worked in teams to create policy responses and evaluate the best course of action through forum discussions
- Incorporated classroom technology to create an interactive experience for fully remote delivery
Graduate Teaching Assistant, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- ECON 291: Undergraduate Learning Assistant Seminar (Fall 2020 - Spring 2023)
- Co-instructed a seminar to support first-time undergraduate learning assistants who work with an economics instructor to enhance the learning experience for students in the instructor’s course
- Collaborated with my co-instructor to design a seminar that allows undergraduate learning assistants to explore pedagogical best practices and to reflect upon their practicum experience as it relates to pedagogical best practices
- ECON 805, 806: Teacher Training Program (Fall 2021 - 2022)
- Co-instructed a two-semester seminar series on pedagogical research and best practices for economics graduate students working as teaching assistants and instructors of record for the first time
- ECON 410: Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (Spring 2020)
- Led weekly recitations to three sections of students to support deeper exploration of the course material, provide personalized feedback in a small class setting, and communicate common areas of confusion to the instructor
- Transitioned recitation sections to remote instruction in the second half of the semester.
- ECON 125: Introduction to Entrepreneurship (Fall 2019)
- Worked within a teaching team of instructors, undergraduate learning assistants, and fellow graduate teaching assistants to provide a personalized learning experience to a 500-student introductory course
- Collaborated with the instructors and graduate teaching assistants to design, manage, and grade project deliverables and exams
